Hi friends, hello visitors to YouTube here with us on the channel of planeo.
My name is David Fuchs and today we are going to talk about how we are going to renovate this room, this apartment,
you can see it very well, here the doors are all already out, renovate.
We would like to put a new floor in and as you can see it very well already,
tiles were used and it is a rented apartment and the new tenant wants to
have a new floor covering on it.
What can I do so that when I move out again, I can just restore the old tiles
or the old condition, but at the same time somehow put a new floor covering
as a system on top of tiles.
That’s what this video is about and we will of course give you tips and tricks.
Our suggestion, our tip is now on these existing tiles, which are already, I
say somewhere 20 years old and not so trendy anymore.
Paintings are through and you see in this shade of grey, it doesn’t fit anymore, you want
to furnish something beautiful, pleasant, modern, maybe depending on what you want
to furnish or how you want to furnish yourself.
Our suggestion is vinyl flooring and of course this has now been tested, it assumes
what can I put on it now.
We have quite a wide joint pattern, the joints are relatively high up.
What kind of vinyl can I use now?
If you now go over to click vinyl as full vinyl, there are of course the different
thicknesses: 3.2, 4.5 or 5 mm.
You can also use the whole thing, but it has the disadvantage in quotation marks
that if the joints are a bit too wide, the whole thing will be pushed through.
This means that you will get a joint pattern, printed upwards into the surface.
You still put a footfall sound insulation underneath, but the whole thing cannot be prevented in the long run.
That would be one variant as a click variant.
I would not recommend this in this case.
OOr you have the possibility to fill the surfaces, which is usually not the case in a rented apartment.
You can also use adhesive vinyl, but in this case the basic requirement is to fill the entire surface.
It is actually also not so optimal in the rent in the adhesive variant.
If you are allowed to do so, great, just do the work.
Filling, pouring compound over it, then you can also glue, you must
of course check this for yourself accordingly.
I would suggest that you use a multilayer here, i.e. vinyl flooring with a multi-layer structure.
This is called a multilayer, you can find it in our store and it is also strongly represented in the market.
They come in different versions with an HDF middle layer, as was the case with laminate at the time,
and then there is also impact sound insulation underneath and on top of it is the vinyl layer.
You can use this very well on these surfaces.
But now comes the point, this type is very effective.
That means that we have 10 to 12 mm height here somewhere.
You’ll just have to check that for yourself, is that possible?
Can I open the windows to the terrace area afterwards?
Or if you still have doors inside, we could now, thank God, remove them here,
can hang them up later and if you still have doors inside, this thickness is often too high.
For this reason, I now recommend the multilayer from our Sly system, which
is already equipped with footfall sound insulation and is very dimensionally stable.
We can lay the whole thing here wonderfully on top of it, on these tiles, also with this joint pattern,
and can also just about lay through from the living room into the hall area afterwards.
We will now choose a decor type here, herringbone, but there are also in tiles or
in quite conventional decors and widths like a hallway and that we would like to present to you
how you can build the whole thing.
Before we start with the installation, I would like to
emphasize once again that it is very important to check the whole thing.
Even if we are already laying tiles, you still have to check the subfloor for waviness.
So spirit level, take a long, at least two meters and check the room.
Make a note of the areas that have too much waviness.
That means everything that is more than 3 mm at one meter, make a mark.
Talk to the landlord if necessary and if you are a homeowner, this area must be levelled out.
No matter if you glue, no matter if you take a click variant, if you take a multilayer, if you take parquet
it does not matter at all, the same tolerance applies everywhere.
The whole thing also has something to do with the warranty afterwards, especially in the forehead or click variants.
It is very important, check the whole thing, go through the surfaces.
If you have done this and the ripple is accordingly ok, then you should
also know what kind of screed you are dealing with or is underfloor heating from below.
Is it a water-based underfloor heating or an electric one?
If it is an electric, I must honestly say that most vinyl manufacturers or even
floor covering manufacturers do not release their products.
So you should also check again, how old is it, what is the whole heating speed.
These are all such things, you should check them immediately, contact us, we
will of course help you with further advice.
When you have done the whole thing, cleaned the subfloor nicely, then you can also
start with the laying.
And that is what we want to do now.
We are now going into the Sly laying, herringbone, that is something very special here.
We don’t want to advertise the herringbone, just take a look
to see if you like the decor, but we just want this multilayer structure,
these seven millimeters, to show you here that it is ideal, especially with the tiles,
also with the joint pattern, that you will get a great result afterwards.
I’m already curious myself how the whole processing of the material will look like afterwards.
For the herringbone installation we first determine the center of the room.
From there we make a mark at 4.2 centimeters in both directions and draw
this working line on the opposite wall.
Please also read the laying instructions in the packages.
All the planks are then laid further according to this principle.
It is important to work with several packages and mix the colors.
But be careful not to mix up the A and B planks – marked on the back with grey or black.
Take your time when laying the first fishbone – this will help you avoid subsequent errors.
The sophisticated click system of planeo floors makes installation very easy.
Even laying the floor backwards is no problem.
So far, we have completed the installation.
You can see that the surface is now closed.
You can also see very clearly here, from the living room out, into the hallway,
into the kitchen, we have also processed and laid the whole thing, and you have noticed that we have laid everything.
We now separate the whole thing afterwards, because that is far too much of one surface, widths and sizes.
Especially when the sun shines in from the window side, vinyl starts to work, then you would have to separate the whole thing again in the door area.
In this case we did this afterwards, as you can see here in the kitchen area.
In the living room we do it the same way, we will show you a close-up.
Simply why afterwards?
That has something to do with the joint pattern.
That is, because we’re laying herringbone, we wanted to have the same structure
and that the joints are butted together, that this is in one picture.
And you can do that very well if you just work it through and separate it afterwards.
Of course, you can also do it differently, lay them separately, but then
the joints won’t meet so exactly and symmetrically.
We will now separate the whole thing here, prepare the whole thing accordingly,
work in the door frame and then just fill the whole thing with a filler without
putting any profile on it, if we also seal it with a filler.
In this case we recommend a natural stone silicone, because it has much less acidity,
but our sales department can help you with that.
We have now just laid the apartment in wood decor, yes, just with the multilayer and
herringbone pattern and were thinking about just such a renovation and the door frames
out and just such an old bathroom to see, rented apartment.
Man, what alternative would you have to install a new floor in the bathroom as well?
That’s just it, it has to be waterproof and it has to withstand soaps and all these things, not slip endangering etc.
And it’s very easy to install, i.e. flat, so it should fit from the
edge, so that there are no differences in height.
We can not work here with grouting to get the tiles away to stick something on it afterwards.
We will just go with the same material, multilayer in tile optics, here it is in herringbone optics, wood.
The whole thing is also available in our store as a tile look and we are now
processing this decor and will just here, in the bathroom, a tile look on top of it as a multilayer vinyl floor,
full vinyl and of course you look at it accordingly.
For the XL tiles from planeo Sly you proceed in exactly the same way as for the Herringbone tiles:
simply lock the joint from above with a rubber mallet.
This is what the result looks like, dear friends.
We’re on YouTube and I think it’s really well done.
If you think about how the apartment looked before, with the ceiling and the old doors
and with the tiles just underground, I think it’s really great.
Now you can see that the furniture is here, you have been living here for several weeks
and the whole apartment has been renovated.
That means the ceiling has been renewed with plasterboard, the lamps have been replaced, the door is new and what really
catches the eye is planeo vinyl flooring here with this decor, Herringbone, this
herringbone laying, where you went over everywhere like this and later on you also did the separation.
I think that’s great.
In the bathroom I also worked with tiles, just from the vinyl area, on the old tiles.
You can also see the result here, I think it’s great.
Then let’s take the decor into the kitchen and out of the hallway not only into the bedroom,
but also here into the cosy, beautiful, pleasant living room.
I think that if you look at the result before, how cold a tile was, how
unpleasant the whole thing was, it is a great, successful result.
Especially if you live in a rented apartment and you say, I don’t know how long I’m going to stay in there
and I want to have a floor that I can maybe take up again and just
put it on a tile maybe, not fixed.
And then there is vinyl, planeo, also here with us, in this case from the Sly collection.
This is a great multilayer, which is also very form stable, which you can also put on top of tiles
and that’s exactly what the result looks like.
And here also herringbone, I find it very well done, very pleasant and through the floor
comes the warmth in this room.
Well, I like it.
If you have any questions, you want new decors or other decors, you don’t want
to work with this one now, maybe you want to work in the grey area.
Let us send you samples, you can get them for free in our store.
Go into planeo, go under vinyl, go under sly, depending on which direction you want to go.
And if you say I’m not sure yet what I should do right and which
products I should take, contact us, call us, write us e-mails.
We will help you to find the right decor, the right quality and on top all the right
price for your projects.
The result is great.
I hope you like it, thumbs up.
